omg, i was at school being bored, totally not focusing on my teacher. checking out twitter on my blackberry and keeping up to date with what Chanel had to offer during their a/w10 fashion show. and believe me, those tweetphotos really made my day! it was amazing, and really unbelievable. all the photos i saw were fantastic, and i was so hating the fact that i was at school and not front row in paris to watch this show. i'm not sure if they videotaped it, but let's hope so. i'm sure i'm going to watch that show more than a thousand times (at least..)!
since everyone knows that we have to be careful for our nature, and respect it to prevent huge climate changes Chanel showed us a huge catwalk with ice floes and ice water on it. i'm sure it was freezing out there! and it probably was since everyone was wearing their outerwear inside, but anyway. this scene had to point to all the melting ice floes, and the fact that we're all helping the climate to change huge, and ruin all of this beautyness our world has to offer.
the plexiglass heels
okay, now back to fashion. Chanel, for me one of the most amazing ones out there. Karl Lagerfeld, known as one of my heroes, surprised us again. at first place with the amazing scene on the catwalk, and with the refeshing designs. models struggling through the ice water on their plexiglass heels, wearing faux fur coats and rocking amazing accesories. i have one word for this, FIERCE, Karl! i really loved this show, even besides the fact that i prefer real fur instead of faux fur.
like you maybe already mentioned, i'm a huge fan of Lady GaGa. she's one of my biggest inspirations, ever existed on this whole world. i'm not only liking her sense of taste, the extravagant outfits and her music but also the person that's inside of all this fierceness. i know some people who meeted GaGa in Amsterdam, when she was here for two concerts, i joined both btw, and she was so sweet to her fans. knowing this, my love for GaGa grew more and more, and right now i'm at the point that i can't love her more than that i already do. after telling you all this, i have to highlight the dress GaGa wore during one of her Monster Ball tour shows. it's called the living dress, and it's made by The Haus Of GaGa. i was so amazed by this dress, i had to show this one to you. it's a wonderful white dress, well made, really hitting the right point, and it amazed me that they made this amazing looking dress even more amazing. they blew some life in it, and now the dress is really living, it's breathing!
like i already mentioned yesterday. i was, and still am, really devastated by the fact that Alexander McQueen commited suicide. i'm sure i can say, he was one of the most talentful designers of this century. the fashion world lost a huge talent. who is going to surprise me with robots spraying paint on a beautiful white tube dress during a fashion show like he did in 1999? who is going to design such wonderful shoes as the armadillo shoes. please. tell me who. i feel really sorry for the family, and this is the message they show people on McQueen's website: "On behalf of Lee McQueen's family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family. Lee's family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this."
McQueen's death came 3 years after one of his friends, Isabella Blow, died after an overdose. Blow worked as his mentor to teach McQueen how to survive in the fashion world and helped him with creating the image he was known for. last week, on tuesday, McQueen's mother died. being thought is that losing people, made him reach the limits. and i feel really sorry for McQueen. losing 2 of your close ones, that is really hard to handle with. Alexander McQueen, was known as one of the most important designers of these days. his craftmanship, his explicite taste and his ability to leave the public with their mouths wide open. he won a lot of prizes with all these features, under wich the title British Designer Of The Year. in 1994 Alexander started his own label, but until 2001 he was also shining as the head designer of Givenchy. i wonder if the label still will exist after all this drama. i hope so, but it will never be the same without Alex himself.
to show people i was really devastated by losing one of the greatest designers ever, i worn this R.I.P. McQ tshirt, i made by myself, and made a little tribute page in my agenda for McQueen.after all of saying this, and sharing this with you. all i can say is, may you rest in piece Alexander. hope you'll find peace and rest at the place where you are right now. love you.
i was really upset when i heard this horrible news about Alexander McQueen. one of the most talentful designers commited suicide. i thought i was in the middle of a horrible nightmare so i double checked it with my blackberry on google. and omg, it was true. Alexander McQueen, one of my favorite designers, commited suicide. i almost cried.
the only thing i can say right now is. R.I.P. ALEXANDER MCQUEEN, you'll be always in my heart. Peace
because of my lack of time, i posted this short blog, but ofcourse Alexander McQueen deserves a bigger blogpost in honor of his wonderful past, and his designs so when i'm at home i'll do a bigger post about Alexander McQueen, my hero deserves it. r.i.p. Alexander
Armani Exchange came up with this "Share The Love" valentine's day campaign, wich is unique in that it features same-sex couples. i, and im sure there are a lot of other people that love these valentine's day ads. however, the american family association's onemillionmoms.com is upset by the ads. the organization want the society to get rid of the 'filth' their children must contend with every day. normally this organization focuses on tv, musicvideos etc. but they say it's time that they can no longer ignore fashion designers using scantily dressed models in advertisements who have recently put their focus on threesomes or same-sex couples. they're kidding me right? i'm not sure, but i think those people use to live in caves. hello, look at that, fashion designers promoting the freedom of who or what you love. isn't that a great valentine's day story? Amen. photo, courtesy of Armani Exchange
first of all, i have to apologise because i haven't made any photos yesterday during my visit at AMFI. we we're too excited, watching some of the work students made, listening to teachers. so i'm really sorry. next time i'll make photos! promise. if i want to go study on AMFI i have to graduate next year, and that means i have to make my homework. normally i hate to do my homework, but this time it was really fun to do. i had to make some photos for my art class. hiya vintage glasses, would you like to date me? ooh i'm so in love with these glasses i found on our attic. definitely gonna rock these glasses this summer. ooh and look at my t-shirt. peek-a-boo, tshirt i bought yesterday in Amsterdam, at Zipper's. it's definitely worth it to visit store, or website. fashion is a serious business. behind the façade of luxury and glamour hides one of the biggest and most dynamic world industries. the world of fashion is at AMFI shared in three fields of studies: fashion & branding, fashion & design and fashion & management. AMFI offers in 4 year a good basis for a succesful career in the fascinating fashion world. this sounds amazing right? so it is AMFI for me tomorrow, they're having an open door day for students who are interested to study at AMFI. i decided to take a look at the fashion & design section because like you probably know, im really interested in fashion and love to design and sketch clothes.
what i also love about this study, is that the students have their own label, it's called individuals and it's their exam project. they have to design, make and set up everything, from photoshoot until fashion show wich they present during the Amsterdam International Fashion Week. i say ferosh! i'll make some photo's tomorrow and upload them later, sorry in advance for the bad quality of the photos because i have to make them with my Blackberry Bold9000, my digital camera is down. too bad. for more info about AMFI, visit their website (they also do the full programme in english, international course) for more info about Individuals by AMFI, visit their website
i'm an 18 years old guy, who lives in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Grew up w/my mom working in the fashion industry, she brought me everywhere (kleine fabriek, mode fabriek, business meetings) when i was a little kid. Even nowadays i accompany her to some of these things, finding it interesting, fascinating and it's just what i like to do the most.
when i grow up, you know the pussycat doll song, i always think about being well known, maybe even famous in the fashion world. that's one of my biggest dreams, and def. my thoughts behind the song, when i hear it play.
fashion? what is fashion for me? for me it's just expressing what's inside yourself. Fashion has no limits, no borders, it can be as crazy as you want yourself and on the other day if you want it plain, just let it be plain. this is what i like the most about fashion, everything's just possible and no one who's telling you what to do. just forget about rules, and about other people, haters especially.. just do whatever you like! live, breath and eat fashion.
email me if you have any questions about me, fashion or anything else you want me to ask. make sure im not always on my computer to read my emails, so it can take some days until i answer. if i use your photos, and you want it down? dont be afraid to ask, just email me and i'll make sure the picture will be down as soon as possible. and i always credit photos that arent mine.
