Melting Ice Floes

omg, i was at school being bored, totally not focusing on my teacher. checking out twitter on my blackberry and keeping up to date with what Chanel had to offer during their a/w10 fashion show. and believe me, those tweetphotos really made my day! it was amazing, and really unbelievable. all the photos i saw were fantastic, and i was so hating the fact that i was at school and not front row in paris to watch this show. i'm not sure if they videotaped it, but let's hope so. i'm sure i'm going to watch that show more than a thousand times (at least..)!
since everyone knows that we have to be careful for our nature, and respect it to prevent huge climate changes Chanel showed us a huge catwalk with ice floes and ice water on it. i'm sure it was freezing out there! and it probably was since everyone was wearing their outerwear inside, but anyway. this scene had to point to all the melting ice floes, and the fact that we're all helping the climate to change huge, and ruin all of this beautyness our world has to offer.
the plexiglass heels
okay, now back to fashion. Chanel, for me one of the most amazing ones out there. Karl Lagerfeld, known as one of my heroes, surprised us again. at first place with the amazing scene on the catwalk, and with the refeshing designs. models struggling through the ice water on their plexiglass heels, wearing faux fur coats and rocking amazing accesories. i have one word for this, FIERCE, Karl! i really loved this show, even besides the fact that i prefer real fur instead of faux fur.

The Living Dress

like you maybe already mentioned, i'm a huge fan of Lady GaGa. she's one of my biggest inspirations, ever existed on this whole world. i'm not only liking her sense of taste, the extravagant outfits and her music but also the person that's inside of all this fierceness. i know some people who meeted GaGa in Amsterdam, when she was here for two concerts, i joined both btw, and she was so sweet to her fans. knowing this, my love for GaGa grew more and more, and right now i'm at the point that i can't love her more than that i already do.
after telling you all this, i have to highlight the dress GaGa wore during one of her Monster Ball tour shows. it's called the living dress, and it's made by The Haus Of GaGa. i was so amazed by this dress, i had to show this one to you. it's a wonderful white dress, well made, really hitting the right point, and it amazed me that they made this amazing looking dress even more amazing. they blew some life in it, and now the dress is really living, it's breathing!

Alexander McQueen (1969-2010)

like i already mentioned yesterday. i was, and still am, really devastated by the fact that Alexander McQueen commited suicide. i'm sure i can say, he was one of the most talentful designers of this century. the fashion world lost a huge talent.
who is going to surprise me with robots spraying paint on a beautiful white tube dress during a fashion show like he did in 1999? who is going to design such wonderful shoes as the armadillo shoes. please. tell me who.
i feel really sorry for the family, and this is the message they show people on McQueen's website: "On behalf of Lee McQueen's family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family.
Lee's family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this."

McQueen's death came 3 years after one of his friends, Isabella Blow, died after an overdose. Blow worked as his mentor to teach McQueen how to survive in the fashion world and helped him with creating the image he was known for.
last week, on tuesday, McQueen's mother died. being thought is that losing people, made him reach the limits. and i feel really sorry for McQueen. losing 2 of your close ones, that is really hard to handle with. Alexander McQueen, was known as one of the most important designers of these days. his craftmanship, his explicite taste and his ability to leave the public with their mouths wide open. he won a lot of prizes with all these features, under wich the title British Designer Of The Year.
in 1994 Alexander started his own label, but until 2001 he was also shining as the head designer of Givenchy. i wonder if the label still will exist after all this drama. i hope so, but it will never be the same without Alex himself.
to show people i was really devastated by losing one of the greatest designers ever, i worn this R.I.P. McQ tshirt, i made by myself, and made a little tribute page in my agenda for McQueen.after all of saying this, and sharing this with you. all i can say is, may you rest in piece Alexander. hope you'll find peace and rest at the place where you are right now. love you.

R.I.P. Alexander McQueen

i was really upset when i heard this horrible news about Alexander McQueen. one of the most talentful designers commited suicide. i thought i was in the middle of a horrible nightmare so i double checked it with my blackberry on google. and omg, it was true. Alexander McQueen, one of my favorite designers, commited suicide. i almost cried.
the only thing i can say right now is. R.I.P. ALEXANDER MCQUEEN, you'll be always in my heart. Peace
because of my lack of time, i posted this short blog, but ofcourse Alexander McQueen deserves a bigger blogpost in honor of his wonderful past, and his designs so when i'm at home i'll do a bigger post about Alexander McQueen, my hero deserves it. r.i.p. Alexander

Anger About Same-Sex Couples In The New Ads Of Armani Exchange

Armani Exchange came up with this "Share The Love" valentine's day campaign, wich is unique in that it features same-sex couples. i, and im sure there are a lot of other people that love these valentine's day ads. however, the american family association's onemillionmoms.com is upset by the ads. the organization want the society to get rid of the 'filth' their children must contend with every day. normally this organization focuses on tv, musicvideos etc. but they say it's time that they can no longer ignore fashion designers using scantily dressed models in advertisements who have recently put their focus on threesomes or same-sex couples.
they're kidding me right? i'm not sure, but i think those people use to live in caves. hello, look at that, fashion designers promoting the freedom of who or what you love. isn't that a great valentine's day story? Amen.

Exciting Homework

first of all, i have to apologise because i haven't made any photos yesterday during my visit at AMFI. we we're too excited, watching some of the work students made, listening to teachers. so i'm really sorry. next time i'll make photos! promise. if i want to go study on AMFI i have to graduate next year, and that means i have to make my homework. normally i hate to do my homework, but this time it was really fun to do. i had to make some photos for my art class.
hiya vintage glasses, would you like to date me? ooh i'm so in love with these glasses i found on our attic. definitely gonna rock these glasses this summer. ooh and look at my t-shirt. peek-a-boo, tshirt i bought yesterday in Amsterdam, at Zipper's. it's definitely worth it to visit store, or website. AMFI

fashion is a serious business. behind the façade of luxury and glamour hides one of the biggest and most dynamic world industries. the world of fashion is at AMFI shared in three fields of studies: fashion & branding, fashion & design and fashion & management. AMFI offers in 4 year a good basis for a succesful career in the fascinating fashion world.
this sounds amazing right? so it is AMFI for me tomorrow, they're having an open door day for students who are interested to study at AMFI. i decided to take a look at the fashion & design section because like you probably know, im really interested in fashion and love to design and sketch clothes.
what i also love about this study, is that the students have their own label, it's called individuals and it's their exam project. they have to design, make and set up everything, from photoshoot until fashion show wich they present during the Amsterdam International Fashion Week. i say ferosh!
i'll make some photo's tomorrow and upload them later, sorry in advance for the bad quality of the photos because i have to make them with my Blackberry Bold9000, my digital camera is down. too bad.
for more info about AMFI, visit their website (they also do the full programme in english, international course)

Front Row, London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week, who isn't dreaming about a front row seat at any Fashion Week? Well, this time you can be a front row watcher of some of the shows that will be presented at the London Fashion Week. Okay, not really front row, but some shows during the London Fashion week from february 19th until february 24th will be broadcasted live on internet. the fashion industry is slowly falling in love with the digital world. several shows, like Louis Vuitton and Burberry Prorsum, already did a live broadcast of their show and this turned out huge. also the fact that bloggers were invited to fashion shows, during the fashion weeks in new york, paris and milan proves that the fashion industry slowly is falling in love with the digital world.
the shows will be broadcasted on the official website of London Fashion Week.

Chanel Take Away

everytime when i’m bored, i come up with ideas like watching old fashion shows. so did i this time, I went to the Chanel website, and watched the pre-fall 2010 show, the paris-shanghai collection. i really loved it when i saw it the first time, so it was pretty easy to choose a show I wanted to watch again. it’s inspired on a trip, Coco wanted to go on, unfortunately these plans only came true in her dreams.the shanghai-paris collection includes the cutest bag ever, well not the cutest, but the funniest in a cute way though. it’s this take away box, redesigned by Karl into a real Chanel take away box. picking up noodles on your way home was never before this chic.

London Bitches

i'm so excited for my trip to london february 14th until february 17th! can't wait to visit all those cute little vintage boutiques, designer stores and harrod's ofcourse. i'm already planning on what i'm going to buy on this trip, and im almost sure about this D&G bag, made of buffalo leather, and this Alexander McQueen t-shirt. just the basic one, with the blue skull on it but i have to own a McQueen tshirt! London here i come!

Love Love Louis

i am really in love with the new Louis Vuitton bags that'll be released, early march. the monogram denim collection is promised to be a colorful one. inspired by the color palette of the spring, green, orange, rose and blue tones. the bags are practical and functional and are meant to be everyday pieces.

first we have this cute sunburst gm, the gm boasts a roomy interior and is complimented by an exterior belted pocket. the straps are made of canvas with a vache leather shoulder guard, and this one will have a pricetag that'll be about $3200. it also comes in the pm size

next we have the sunrise. a gartered messenger bag, it will come in orange and blue with an estimated price of $2600

lastly, we have the smallest of them all , the Sunshine. Measuring less than a foot, it's definitely the most delightful of them all. this is also the cheapest one, with a price tag of $2300.i really love these bags, especially the sunburst gm. if i ever own the sunburst gm, i would probably die of happiness, combinating it with a silver fox fur tail keychain, just like the models rocked those down the runway. i found these silver fox fur tails for $29.99 on ebay.

UPDATE. Marc Jacobs To Broadcast His Fall/Winter 2010 Show..

like i already mentioned a few days ago, Marc Jacobs will be broadcasting his fall/winter 2010 show live on his website on february 15th, 8PM US time. and now Robert Duffy, Jacob's business partner started tweeting to document the progress of Marc's collection. last day he tweeted the below:
“Any ideas for a stage set for our fashion show? It’s at the armory on 27th Street. I’m stuck. No idea. Something minimal please? I have one week!”
and this:
“Marc says hi! He loves that I’m doing this. He thinks I’ll be bored in two days. Let’s see.”
too bad he deleted some of his tweets, and i quote: "i deleted some of my tweets because, like i already said i'm new to this" i think that he regrets his e-cry and that it wasn't their meaning to show the world that they're crying for help. i'm curious if people have sent them their ideas. we'll see how it worked out on february 15th! The Big Grammy Awards, Red Carpet Post

yesterday was the big day. the day of the Grammy Awards, i was really excited for the show and for the red carpet ofcourse! i was wondering what everyone was going to wear and especially for gaga, she always surprises me, so did she this time. a lot of people hated her red carpet dress, but i loved it, and she rocked every little piece of it.
GaGa, in Armani Privé. love love love this look. oh gaga you've left me speechless.beyoncé, in stephané rolland. she's totally rocking this dress, fits her female curves in a really good way. to me, the dress looks a little bit boring though. but good choice bee! taylor swift, in kaufman franco. this dress fits really good to her well shaped body. taylor has this amazing body, and i'm almost sure that every dress looks good on her. so does this one. i like the color and the detail on the front. Jennifer Lopez, in Versace. love the color, matches good with her skin tone, and i love the idea of one bare leg. she's got fabulous legs to show, so this is the perfect dress for jennifer. and look at the Christian Louboutin's. ferosh j.lo!rihanna, in Elie Saab Haute Couture. looks good, but i think riri should had worn another dress. the last time riri is rocking all of the outfits she's wearing, but this is a bit on the safe side for rihanna don't you think? love the shoes btw. the last one i'm going to do for tonight is. keri hilson, in Dolce & Gabbana. this was one of the dresses i loved the most. this dress reminds me of a mermaid, and mermaids always look beautiful in my mind. love the fabrics and the way the worked with them. and look at the belt. fierce as hell.

AIFW, Highlights And Musthaves

since there were too many shows during AIFW i decided not to do reviews of all of the shows. but instead of the reviews i came up with another idea. i'm gonna show you what for me the highlights and definitely the musthaves are.

the first thing i saw what will be a must have for the girls, is long straight silky hair wich i saw on the runway at Mattijs's show. the color red. definitely going to be a must have. both for men and for women. not only in the show of Mattijs i saw the color red, but also in other shows all over the world, we saw the color red for a/w2010.scarves. i know that scarves are forever, but this season you'll see the most outrageous scarves, with fabulous details and ad-ons. it's all about the details this season! this is something we saw in a lot of the shows this time. oversized trousers, for man and woman. i love this look, but will it fit everyone?
like i said, the oversized trousers look. for man and woman. i absolutely like this look. and this season, it isn't only about the oversized trousers. the jackets will be oversized too, at least if it fits your body. not everyone can work this, believe me.

AIFW: Amsterdam International Fashion Week

because i'm dutch, i felt like spending a blog post on AIFW: Amsterdam International Fashion Week. designers showed their a/w 2010 collections during the fashion week from january 27th until january 31st, at the 'westergasfabriek' in amsterdam. since this was the last day of AIFW i decided that today was the time to dedicate a blog post to AIFW.

on january 27th, Jan Taminiau showed off his a/w2010 collection. normally i like his collections a lot, but this time it felt like we all have seen this before. the dresses, are well made. real craftmanship, but i think some of the ideas are stolen from other designers. and what about the hairbands? looked great in 2009, but in 2010 we want something new Jan! but because i don't feel like giving all negative reviews let's talk about the platform shoes, those are really fabulous and i'm curious if these will be for retail soon, or if these are only samples for his fashionshow.you see what i'm talking about? it looks like redesigned, existing dresses. doesn't mean i don't like them though, they're looking really fabulous, well made and good to wear.

because i want to study at AMFI, amsterdam fashion institute. this show asked for my attention. it's the Individuals by AMFI fashion show. totally set up by students. i hope, one day, models will walk down the runway with my designs on. AMFI get ready for me. anyways, i don't think they made it work this time. like, if you look at these photos, it's all something we already worn in 2009. and were they thinking people are really going to wear lookthrough jumpsuits, and dresses completely made out of lace? GaGa wears this kind of clothes, but hey. haven't she already rocked this looks? too bad Individuals. ooh and those peep-toe pumps, so standard.

i picked out these 2 shows, because i was expecting a lot from these two shows. but this time, too bad, they dissapointed me a little bit. maybe next time they'll rock the runway? who knows.
and something else, dissapointed me too. Daryl van Wouw wasn't showing his collection this time at AIFW. i always look forward to see his new shows and collections, he is one of my favorite dutch designers. i think one of these days i'll step by at his atelier or small boutique to see what's going on.

Thimister Couture

to be honest, i've never heard of Thimister before, until i decided to take a look at the photos of Thimister's couture show. unlike all other designers, he was already showing his fall 2010 couture, instead of his spring 2010 couture. the theme of this collection is a mix between bloodshed and millitaria, from convulsive russian history and the current moment.
i really like this couture collection, and the theme it's based on. it's about wars, world wars and that were the only subjects in my history class i actually liked.

they opened the show with this millitary-ish look. i really love this one, the boots and the jacket are my favorites of the entire collection. imagine that you own this jacket and how many looks you can create with this jacket. this earned the number one place on my wishlist.the same look for women. i like how they do the same looks for both genders.
and another great look, i say. the pants and the jacket are absolutely fabulous, but the boots? i dont think anyone would really wear those boots. for all photos of Thimister fall 2010 couture show, slideshow.
before. i never had heard of Thimister. but everytime i hear, read or see Thimister now, i'm definitely gonna pay full attention to it. i enclosed Thimister into my heart. Amen.

Best And Worst Of January Fashion Magazines

everybody knows, february is the month for the fashion magazines to publish the spring fashion in their magazines. but in january, they sometimes tease you a little bit with some warm-weather-clothes. sometimes they kill it, but sometimes, nah they just suck in teasing.the model looks like she's travelling back in time to collect her long-lost love, tarzan. And it works. Japanese Vogue
do i need to explain this one? most bulging spread ever. VMan this is so boring. the concept of a fabulous dressed woman doing normal things in the real world is such a classic and used too often to still like it. i love the outfits though. Harper's Bazaar

Let Me Introduce: The New Valentino

i was really surprised when i was taking a look at the photos of the spring 2010 Valentino couture show. in my thoughts, Valentino was always one of those labels, who make the most beautiful and gorgeous gowns with a classic look. so, this time i was expecting the same, but ohmygod. they came up with an extremely different look, and i loveee this new look.

looking at these pictures, it's quite evident that Valentino wants to attract a new kind of customers. i dont know if this will do good for them, maybe it's too risky and too forward.
like i already mentioned, i love this change of look. but i think that it would turn out better, if Valentino stays Valentino with the classic look, making beautiful couture gowns like they did for centuries. but who am i to say this? maybe im completely wrong and are their former customers eager to buy these new couture outfits.

oh and btw, what about the batman masks?

Fashion Monster

So...guess this means im back in the blogging scene? I decided to start blogging again, after i saw all of these wonderful blogs talking about fashion week. This really made me want to go blogging again, i missed it, but i had to quit with it a few months ago. Already mentioned the new name; Fashion Monster? Yeah. thats because im gonna make a new start, blogging about everything, all fashion. Not specificly male fashion, what i used to do under the name, Male Perfection. like, what whas i thinking with that name? Anyways, Fashion Monster because this is a fashion blog and monster, yeah. im addicted to Lady GaGa, love her, her music, her fashion. GaGa is my personal goddess. So thats why. Too bad i have to leave my cozy warm house for work, but i'll really start blogging after my work! Think im gonna start with some reviews of last fashion week..
