Born This Way

This week is already the best week of this year (at least, until now), my biggest love and inspiration is releasing the first single of her upcoming studio Album 'Born This Way', called 'Born This Way' and on saturday performing live at the Grammy Awards. After a few months, only touring with her Monster Ball tour, she finally comes with some new music, tv show performances and not to forget, the 60 minutes long interview right after the Grammy Awards!
I'm sure it was all worth the wait, and today she revealed the cover of her new single on twitpic! I was at this birthday party, and omg when i saw this on my blackberry i totally freaked out, everytime she is able to surprise and overwhelm us even more.
People are saying the cover is inspired on Unicorns or Pegasus, but when i saw it, it reminded me of Alexander McQueen's spring 2010 fashion show. The models also were rocking the horn-ish things on their faces.
Born This Way will be released on Friday 11 February, 9AM US time.

Metro

Exhausted. Still exhausted, thanks to last weekend and a really intensive monday afterwards. I'm one of those people, who likes to go out as often as possible. Normally i go clubbin'in cities like Amsterdam, Eindhoven or Rotterdam but this week was different, let me tell you, reeeeaally different, in a bad way. I went clubbin'in my hometown, Deurne, in this 'new' club called 'Metro'. Normally where i go out, people spend hours and hours in front of the mirror before they leave to go clubbin', and i have no idea why people in this 'Metro Club thingy' think different about how important it is how you look, when you go out, oh and the DJ was on crack for sure. Enough said. I couldn't take it any longer, so i left early to have some more drinks at my friend's house to build our own little party, and to be honest at her's it was even more fun, than in the quasi club.

So after this 'heavy' night i woke up, a little hung over, but i promised to visit my grand parents last sunday, so i had to leave my friend's home with this enormous headache, put on my pokerface and pretended that i was all happy and fresh, saw some members of my family i haven't seen for a while, so that was interesting.
Remember i had this bonding time with my mom on saturday? Guess what, even more bonding time last sunday! After i visited my grand parents, i surprised my parents with my appearance. I had quite some fun with them, and i met my little brother's girlfriend. My mom and i had some conversations about how my life is at the moment, and how i manage everything, and now that everything's clear i hope she isn't worried anymore about me and things that has to do with me.
I have to apologise, everytime when i'm at my parents their house i can't control myself and i sneak out to ransack the entire attic. It surprises me, because every single time i find some new pieces of clothing, jewellery or other things i can really use. This time was even more special, because i found this blazer/jacket my mom made when she was young, and now i'm gonna wear it, she really liked that idea. And i really liked the blazer/jacket thing, even more in combination with some of these cool brouches and this vintage watch i found over there.
After finding this 'jackpot' my mom made a lovely dinner for us, and we had this little 'family dinner'. I really loved it, she made some italian food, but i can't remember the name of it (i'm sorry). I do have photo of it, maybe you can recognize what it is?

Bonding Time

The weather wasn't really on our side today, but we conquered it and we had a great time together! No, i'm not dating anyone or seeing someone.. i'm talking about me and my mom. In the past we had some issues, but i think they made us stronger in a really really good way.
My mom called me yesterday to ask me if i wanted to join her, on her search for a new pair of shoes, and i loved the idea. After, like, about 2 hours we found the perfect shoes for her, and after finding them she surprised me with, now we're gonna buy some clothes for YOU! I was surprised, and really happy at that moment. So we took off to the stores i wanted to visit, first we went to 'Doortje Vintage' where i saw this beautiful, blue trenchcoat, unfortunately it wasn't my size, that made me sad for a moment. After our visit to 'Doortje Vintage' we went to H&M where i found this beautiful grey trenchcoat, almost similar to the one i saw in the other store, i was so happy, and even more happy when my mom bought the trenchcoat and a basic striped t-shirt for me! I'll show you the trenchcoat one of these days on a photo where i'm wearing the trenchcoat. After H&M, my mom said she had to buy a T-shirt for my little brother, so we went to a store called 'Men at Work', i normally dont go to this kind of stores to buy clothes, because the clothes they sell in there, are like worn by everyone. So we we're looking for a t-shirt for my little brother, and at once i found this amazing blouse, by Diesel and i fell in love at first sight, and guess what? Now i'm the owner of my new freaking love! Oh, and i bought some Diesel jeans.
As you can read, this day was freaking amazing and i freaking love my mom!

Young And Fresh Designer: Samira Algoe, ZEM

Just like my dutch readers will know for sure, last week Amsterdam was full of important people from the fashion industry, fashionistas and a load full of bloggers. AIFW (Amsterdam International Fashion week) shook up the city, and all fashion lovers were over excited because some big names were about to show their A/W2011 collection. Names like, Jan Taminiau (who opened this fashion week with an amazing show), Bas Kosters, Monique Collignon and Addy van den Krommenacker. Their shows were amazing just like we're used of them.
For me, most of the time, it's more interesting what the new and young designers are all about, are they innovative? Are they creative and hard working enough to succeed as a designer? Well for me, Samira Algoe was.
Samira Algoe was a student at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI), and graduated in 2010 with an amazing collection wich is a striking representation of her style and vision. Samira is wel known for the use of unusual materials in combination with usual materials, all worked together to amazing pieces of clothing. Samira sees her pieces of clothing, not necessarily as actual clothes, more like objects. The men she projects are also objects, objects from flesh and blood, the embodiment of a humanoid. Instead of men wearing the clothes, the clothes are wearing the men.
She opened her show with a model with white/grey tufts of hair walking on red snow boots and a ski outfit, that's when i knew: this show is on! She sent her models on the runway with pieces of clothing, normally worn by women, like capes and leggings. I think she transformed these typical pieces of clothing for women into a new trend for men. The collection existed mainly out of light shades of blue, and some light touches of soft pink. For me it really worked out, and i'm sure we're gonna hear a LOT of this new and young designer.

Back In The Blogging Scene

As you can see, i blew some new life into my blog. Changed the design, changed the name, (before it was called Fashion Monster), changed some things here and there and found the persistence to start again, and to keep on blogging ofcourse. I still can't understand why I neglected all this, the happiness, the satisfaction it gave me when i was blogging about my biggest passion.
As you can see, i'm still working on the new look of my blog. I hope that one of these days i'm finished with revamping it, so i can start blogging again as if i never left the scene.

btw, had a tough day at school. werqed it in this knitted sweater my grandma made like 30 or 40 years ago, it's really cool. It's a shade of purple, mixed with a little white and it's fluffy. I don't have a photo of it (i'm sorry), my camera is broken and hopefully at short notice i'll be the owner of a brand new camera! Until then, me, and you guys have to deal with the quality of photos my Blackberry makes, i'll show you what quality with this photo i made of my moodboard in my drawing class today.
I know i used some old outtakes and ad campaigns, but the moodboard had to be inspired on nature, especially the ocean, under water creatures, clouds and the sun.

Melting Ice Floes

omg, i was at school being bored, totally not focusing on my teacher. checking out twitter on my blackberry and keeping up to date with what Chanel had to offer during their a/w10 fashion show. and believe me, those tweetphotos really made my day! it was amazing, and really unbelievable. all the photos i saw were fantastic, and i was so hating the fact that i was at school and not front row in paris to watch this show. i'm not sure if they videotaped it, but let's hope so. i'm sure i'm going to watch that show more than a thousand times (at least..)!
since everyone knows that we have to be careful for our nature, and respect it to prevent huge climate changes Chanel showed us a huge catwalk with ice floes and ice water on it. i'm sure it was freezing out there! and it probably was since everyone was wearing their outerwear inside, but anyway. this scene had to point to all the melting ice floes, and the fact that we're all helping the climate to change huge, and ruin all of this beautyness our world has to offer.
the plexiglass heels
okay, now back to fashion. Chanel, for me one of the most amazing ones out there. Karl Lagerfeld, known as one of my heroes, surprised us again. at first place with the amazing scene on the catwalk, and with the refeshing designs. models struggling through the ice water on their plexiglass heels, wearing faux fur coats and rocking amazing accesories. i have one word for this, FIERCE, Karl! i really loved this show, even besides the fact that i prefer real fur instead of faux fur.

The Living Dress

like you maybe already mentioned, i'm a huge fan of Lady GaGa. she's one of my biggest inspirations, ever existed on this whole world. i'm not only liking her sense of taste, the extravagant outfits and her music but also the person that's inside of all this fierceness. i know some people who meeted GaGa in Amsterdam, when she was here for two concerts, i joined both btw, and she was so sweet to her fans. knowing this, my love for GaGa grew more and more, and right now i'm at the point that i can't love her more than that i already do.
after telling you all this, i have to highlight the dress GaGa wore during one of her Monster Ball tour shows. it's called the living dress, and it's made by The Haus Of GaGa. i was so amazed by this dress, i had to show this one to you. it's a wonderful white dress, well made, really hitting the right point, and it amazed me that they made this amazing looking dress even more amazing. they blew some life in it, and now the dress is really living, it's breathing!
